Clear aligners
Start by understanding your options.
Thinking about clear aligners? Here's what the consultation involves, what it costs and what happens next.
- Consultation
- £75Example
- Time
- 45 minutes
- Before any decision
- An examination by a clinician

Your first appointment, explained.
The consultation is a 45-minute appointment with a clinician. It's your chance to say what you'd like to change and ask anything you want.
What happens
Talk it through
What you'd like to change, and any worries about treatment or the appointment itself.
Examination
A check of your teeth and gums, to make sure they're healthy enough for orthodontic treatment.
Records
Photographs and, where it helps, a digital scan of your teeth.
Your options
Whether clear aligners could work for you, the alternatives, and the option of not having treatment.
Next steps
What would happen next, and when you'd receive a written plan and fee.
Sometimes more information is needed before a plan can be agreed, such as an X-ray. If so, the clinician will explain why and what it costs before anything is done.

How clear aligners work.
Clear aligners are a series of close-fitting, removable trays. Each one moves your teeth a small amount, following a plan made for you. You wear them for most of the day and night, taking them out to eat, to drink anything other than water and to clean your teeth.
They aren't right for everyone. Whether they'd suit you depends on your teeth, and finding that out is what the consultation is for.
Know what the cost covers.
Here's what each part costs, so there are no surprises later.
| Item | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation | £75 | 45 minutes, including an examination, photographs and, where it helps, a scan |
| Clear-aligner treatment | From £2,900 | Your aligners and scheduled review appointments |
| Retainers | From £300 | To hold your teeth in position after treatment |
| Other dental care | Priced separately | Only if it's needed before or during treatment |
| Your final fee | In writing | Set out in your treatment plan before you decide |
Your exact fee depends on your treatment plan. You'll have it in writing before you decide anything.

Who you'll see.
Your consultation is with one of our clinicians. They'll start with your questions, explain what they find and talk you through the options, including the option of not having treatment.
Your clinician
What treatment involves.
If you decide to go ahead, this is the usual path. Your own plan sets out the detail and timing.
Assessment
The consultation, and any further records needed to plan your treatment.
Planning
Your written plan: what's proposed, how long it's expected to take, what it costs and what's expected of you.
Treatment and reviews
Wearing your aligners as advised and coming in for regular review appointments.
Retainers
Wearing retainers afterwards to stop your teeth moving back.
We don't promise a standard treatment time. It depends on your teeth and your plan.
Bring the questions that matter to you.
You don't need to have decided anything before you come in. Some people find it helps to think about:
- What would I like to change, and why now?
- What would treatment involve day to day?
- What would the full cost be, and what does it include?
Questions worth asking.
What happens at the consultation?
You'll talk through what you'd like to change, have your teeth and gums examined and have photographs taken. The clinician will explain your options and the next step. It takes 45 minutes and costs £75.
Can I find out online whether aligners will work for me?
Not reliably. Whether aligners suit you depends on an examination of your teeth, which is what the consultation is for.
How much does treatment cost?
Clear-aligner treatment starts from £2,900, including your aligners and review appointments. Retainers are from £300. Your exact fee is in your written plan before you decide.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on your teeth and your plan. Your clinician will give you an estimate once they've assessed you.
